I am a private pilot. I was told of this book a few years ago. The title is Stick and Rudder: An Explanation of the Art of Flying
It was written back in the 40's by Wolfgang Langewiesche. I think that it was written as an aide to training pilots after the war. It's a bit dated, he calls elevators, flippers and his take on tricycle gear is interesting, but this book will change the way you fly. I give it to all my newly certificated pilot friends as a gift. It should be required reading, and it's entirely possible that it might save your life. If you are a pilot and would like to really understand how your airplane flies then you need to read this book.
